Escape the trendy stores and upmarket boutiques along Kurfurstendamm and stay at the traditional Savigny Hotel. What a world of difference the hotel is from Berlin's longest shopping mile, only a five-minute walk away. But being so centrally located in town also means you'll have quick access to cultural spots, restaurants, theatres and practically everything else. Housed in a traditional building, the privately owned Hotel Savigny still prizes its antique elevator. The rooms are adequate for a budget stay as you'll only get very basic amenities and old fashioned furniture. They are spacious and have high ceilings though. Breakfast is available in a large, bright room with traditional design. There is also a small winter garden at the back.
